Subject: 50 Yrs of Computing Celebration at UC - Nov 10-11

Please join us on Nov 10 & 11 as the University of Cincinnati celebrates its first 50 years of computing. This is truly a unique event. There are three venues for this conference. On Monday, November 10 we will recognize some of UC’s early computing pioneers with a dinner celebration at the Kingsgate Marriott.

On Tuesday, November 11 there are two events. The first one is a day-long symposium at UC’s College of Applied Science located on Victory Parkway ( This event will feature a look at the computing past and a peek into the computing future. Many of the speakers are nationally recognized for their work ranging from chemistry to art.

On Tuesday evening, the Cincinnati Observatory Center will be the host as three world-class astronomers will be presenting. Tours of the Observatory will be given and if the sky is clear, you will be able to view the heavens. (Please dress accordingly if you plan on looking through the telescopes, as they are inside unheated rooms.)

The cost for the entire event is less than $130 and you may attend a single event at an even lower cost. Go to for more details and costs or contact Russ McMahon at russ.mcmahon at (There is money available to cover the costs of students. They must contact me if they are interested in attending.)
